Animal Testing Debate

Hi Everyone,

A friend turned me on to this debate that the Alliance for Animals is hosting. I thought it might be a good opportunity for us to hear both sides of the debate and to see one of our Pathology professors!!

here is a description of the event:

Does knowledge gained from research on animals allow us to predict disease or drug response in humans?

On September 26, Eric Sandgren, DVM, PhD, will debate Ray Greek, MD on the question "Are animal models predictive for humans?"

Dr. Sandgren is an animal researcher and the chair of two animal research oversight committees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the acting director of the Research Animal Resource Center.

Dr. Greek is a retired anesthesiologist and author of three books on the history and current use of animals as models of human disease and drug response. He is the president of Americans For Medical Advancement.

The Debate will be held at the Wisconsin Historical Society Building at the corner of Langdon and Park St. and will begin at 7:00pm.

Seating is limited and will be available on a first come-first served basis (there are no reserved seats).

This event is sponsored by The Capital Times newspaper and will be moderated by Dave Zweifel.
